WELCOME.
HorthWorld is the alter ego of singer / songwriter Andrew Horth from Melbourne, Derbyshire.
Since being scouted by Flip Flop Records A&R rep and producer Scott Milligan at an open mic night in Burton-on-Trent late last year, Andrew has recorded his first single ‘Watercooler Girl’ with Milligan and Flip Flop Records founder Nick Brine’s studio in Wales. Brine has worked with the likes of Oasis, Ash, Snow Patrol, Stone Roses, Coldplay and the Stereophonics and both he and Milligan agreed Andrew was a songwriter to be championed.
‘I drink more water than I did before’
Watercooler Girl is like a diary entry of a guy in an office working up the courage to talk to his crush, by the watercooler, every day.
“It’s such an earworm” says Milligan “I couldn’t shake it, and when I listened to more of his demos I realised what a talent Andrew had for songwriting. He’s a heart on the sleeve kind of guy and the honesty (and humour) in his writing was something I really wanted to help him craft in the studio, to make it sound the best it possibly could. He already has an album’s worth of demos, and they’re all different and unique, underpinned by old school songwriting and lovely hooks. I think people will love this song, and him.”
Brine echoed Milligans discovery “I really liked it, had a Teenage Fanclub vibe which I love and think Watercooler Girl is a great first ride at HorthWorld.” Watercooler Girl will be released in August 2024 followed by further singles from HorthWorld while Andrew continues to play the songs from his album at gigs and festivals, including Y Not, before they’re taken to the studio.
